We found the perfect place!
Charged with finding a beach house in Kauai for four couples approaching 70 years old was not easy, but I found the perfect place. Everyone was super happy with the Aloha Cottages—accommodations, location, everything! As a vacation rental owner in SoCal I was especially impressed with the coziness, and attention to detail, the owners accomplished. We all felt like we were staying in someone's home! I know that the idea behind [partner site} but not everyone pulls it off like the owner's of this property did. I felt like this had been someones family home for generations, definitely not your typical beach vacation rental. Each and every couple told me they would love to do this again.

Beautiful Kapa'a House
I've stayed in Kapa'a on Kauai many times over the past 20 years, and have long admired the Sunrise Cottage. I finally was able to stay there for 2 weeks in March 2019 - it was fabulous! Right on the walking path, at the quiet end, and directly in front of the ocean. We watched the sunrise daily while sipping coffee on our front porch. The house was very well-appointed and comfortable, with plenty of space for togetherness and privacy. The kitchen was full of everything we needed for cooking, including barbeque utensils and supplies. When it was too windy to sit out front we could sit on the cozy back deck. Kauai is full of fun things to do, but we were often tempted to hang around the house and the neighborhood, because it was so nice to be there! This house was everything I had hoped for, and more.

Truly Perfect
I rented both Sunrise and Moonrise cottages last year for a very special vacation with my two grown children and their spouses, and one grandchild. We loved everything about our trip--the location was perfect for exploring the island, the town of Kapaa was charming, the walking/bike path winds right along the beautiful coastline, and being right on the ocean gave us easy access to Baby Beach and the continual peace of the waves and breezes. Everything we could have possibly wanted for cooking was right at hand, including a great barbecue. I returned this summer for a week "solo"--and loved my time at Sunrise just as much. I spent hours on the porch reading novels and watching the ocean, peaceful evenings being soothed by the sound of the waves, and a few side trips to Poipu and Hanalei. I came home refreshed and looking forward to my next visit to this beautiful home away from home. Truly a slice of paradise!!!

Hula in the Rain

Nadine Alexander, circa 1938, dances hula at the famous Coco Palms resort on Kauai. In 1940 Nadine married Duke Kahanamoku, Olympic Gold Medalist in swimming and the "father" of Hawaiian surfing. This photo/gicleé was given to us by dear friends, Patti, Sue and Charlie during their visit in 2005. Nadine greets all our visitors with Aloha and is one of our favorite pieces of art.

Perfectly lovely and relaxing cottage
Our stay was perfect, the cottages (we rented both of them) were in excellent condition, clean, orderly, and in a perfect location across the small road from the ocean. We came to the island with our two grown children, their partners, and two grandsons age 9 and 11. Everyone loved the stay and the best part was the cottages and their location to the ocean and the town. This was our second stay and we will come again.

Perfect Place
We rented both Sunrise and Moonrise cottages to celebrate a special birthday with children and grandchildren. We were so pleased that we were able to stay here. It is a spot where people passing by stop to take photos and comment on the beauty of it. We agree. Everything is the highest quality, artistically decorated and completely clean. Susan was a great communicator and made it all easy for us. Thank you. We will always remember our wonderful week.

Truly Spectacular!!
Such a lovely and inviting home. This was our family Christmas getaway. Myself, my mother, my daughter and her boyfriend, and my brother and his family. We had such a wonderful time exploring all of the beauty of the island. All of the local vendors, shop owners, neighbors... were so pleasant and always helpful! The house is so comfortable, even my brother's children felt at home immediately. All passersby admired the house with awe and admiration (I think it just might be the most beautiful house on the island), many people passed by more than once just to have another look! And this is just the main house (Sunrise Cottage), the detached "guest" cottage (Moonrise Cottage) is just as cozy and welcoming. Everything is extremely well appointed - this is a rare delight - they even had the shrimp skewers we thought we might have to purchase. My niece and nephew had a blast chasing little lizards and geckos on the property, and little fish and crabs by the water! We spent a lot of our free time on the beautiful front porch!! We were also delighted several times with having the beautiful endangered monk seals and sea turtles come up to the beach and sunbathe right at the end of the block!! The entire trip was an amazing journey for the mind, body, and spirit - not to mention the buffet of delights for your eyes and ears!! If you ever have the amazing pleasure to visit, my favorite late-night ritual was to walk to the end of the road by the little sandy area. There is a perfectly slanted large black rock there where I would just lay back, listen to the sound of the waves, and look up at the millions of stars in the sky - PURE BLISS!!

Homage to Pegge Hopper
(guest bedroom#1, Sunrise Cottage, 36"x20")
An original oil by Sarah Waldron brings the colorful wahine style of art made famous by Peggy Hopper to Aloha Cottages. Custom designed to feature Hopper's typical Hawaiian elements of ocean, tropical plants and beautiful island women, this painting is one we treasure, from a treasured friend.
Amazing House by the Ocean
It was exactly what we were expecting. Such a beautiful spot. We could see the ocean from everywhere in the house. Walking by the water was such a treat. We could walk to the town, and enjoy the shops and food or just sit on the porch and enjoy the view from the house. The house was so clean and had everything we needed. It was so comfortable with 5 adults and our 7 month old baby. The ceiling fans and the ocean breeze kept us cool. There were clear instructions about the house and the local area. We loved our stay at the sunrise cottage. Snorkeling right in front of the house was super fun too. Saw lots of fish and locals fishing and spear fishing too. Thanks so much for sharing your home.

Be sure to Rent Bikes
Yep its a good as everyone says. We have never used both cottages, but I will tell you that it if someone is using the moonrise cottage, they in no way lessen your enjoyment of the sunrise cottage. No need saying more, as the rest of the reviews will let you know it’s an absolute treasure. As the cottage is located along the bike trail, you get some occasional people watching. The bike trail takes you along the ocean, past two beach parks, and down town Kapaa. Will be back next year!

A fabulous find in a local liquidator store. Its the perfect picture next to the queen-size canopy bed, evoking scenes from around the island. The artist captured the beauty of the sky and ocean on so many Kauai beaches!

If you want to stay in a beautiful house...
just steps from the ocean, this is the perfect place. My family of 5 adults and 1 child loved everything about this home. The comfortable furnishings included special touches like freshly-cut flowers and paintings based on local culture. We had everything we needed to make our stay pleasurable, from a well-equipped kitchen to beach toys in the shed for my grandson. We spent a good deal of time in the well-groomed yard, playing games or relaxing in the chairs and watching the waves roll in. We truly enjoyed our stay in the Sunrise Cottage!

From the moment we pulled up...
and the front porch seemed to welcomed us with outstretched arms, Sunrise Cottage has felt like home. We will remember the breathtaking sunrises, swimming in the ocean, walks along the beach, looking for seashells, quiet moments watching the waves from the porch, card games at the dining room table...but mainly we will recall the love we shared as a family in this special cottage. Our memories of our time at Sunrise Cottage will stay with each of us forever.

"Thank you for the attention to detail.
Moonrise was wonderful! We loved the location, the moon beaming in the window and the perfectly located shelf on the wall by the bed. The kitchen was awesome and allowed us to do one of our favorite things...cooking together.

One of the best things I've done in my life was paddling on an outrigger canoe team for 12 years. It is truly a thrilling sport and I cherish all the hours on the ocean, the time spent with teammates and the rewards of taking part in ocean races. I never tired of it. When my husband and friend, Patti, presented me with this painting one year for my birthday it was perfect, the best gift I could imagine! —Susan

Home Away from Home in
Quiet Kapaa Oceanfront Cottage
The Sunrise Cottage is our style of beach accommodation — we immediately felt at home and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We found the location to be ideal for accessing the North and South shores. Our favorite part of the neighborhood was the multi-use path that runs along the ocean for miles and miles to the North. We particularly loved the part past Kealia Beach for its solitude. We plan to return to Kauai and would base our travel schedule on making sure we can stay at the Sunrise.

A Dream Beach House
This beach house is so spectacular. It opens up right to the ocean with the add bonus of the walking/bike path and easy walk to town. The beach is just a short walk with soft sand and a swimming spot that is like a pool. The owner has a supply of everything you need to enjoy the beach. The house is fully stocked with everything you need plus with personal touches that make a rental a special place to be. The owner and employees are very attentive and easy to get in touch with. Such an easy place to rent.

Annual Family Vacation
Location prefect. While my children and grandchildren were at the beach and exploring, the wife and I sat on the wonderful porch. We watched the waves roll in and enjoyed the gentle breeze. At night, while lying in bed we would listen to the waves as they crashed on the rocks. This was just a prefect house and cottage for our family of eight. Susan was great to work with and responded quickly to any questions. Dawn the property Manager was awesome, she even baked me Banana bread for Fathers day. It was a great stay. Steve C

Foamy Flute
(Guest bedroom #2, Sunrise Cottage, Giclee on canvas, Latitudes Gallery, 36"x12"
This close-up of the floamy surf on a sandy beach is the epitome of island life. It brings the sound and smell of the ocean right into the house! Latitudes Gallery has 2 locations on the island, Kukui'ula Center in Poipu and Hanalei, and we love their work!

Loved this house!
We enjoyed a multi-generational family stay at Sunrise and Moonrise Cottages which were perfect for our party of 6 adults and 2 kids. We were celebrating my 70th birthday and my husband’s 75th. As soon as we walked in the front door we felt right at home. The owners have thought of everything to make a stay here so enjoyable from the extremely well stocked kitchen to the beach equipment provided for guests to use. Kapaa is well located for exploring the island as it is in the middle and explore we did. Every day was a new adventure. But we also enjoyed just hanging out at the house, sitting on the front porch watching the ocean while the kids enjoyed swimming at Baby Beach. I am really missing having my morning coffee out on the porch and listening to the ocean as I go to sleep at night. The cottages are a perfect place to stay for a relaxing Hawaiian vacation.

Perfect location for exploring the island
I stayed one week in the Moonrise Cottage as my home base for exploring Kauai. The cottage is just the right size for one or two people. As it is located behind the Sunrise Cottage, there is plenty of privacy and little noise (other than the roosters!) I slept extremely well (mattress is perfectly comfortable) and found the whole experience restful and rejuvenating. The location of the Cottage on the east side, in a quiet residential neighborhood, works well, because it is not a long drive to either the north side or the south side. There are also plenty of places to eat in Kapaa, and you can take long walks on the path right in front of the cottages. I enjoyed waking up early and sitting on the wall next to the ocean as my start to the day. I would most definitely stay here again and would highly recommend Moonrise for anyone travelling to Kauai.

Simply perfect in every way
Imagine you go on vacation and stay at a place that has every big and little thing you would need during your stay. And beyond that, a place that has a bunch of other unexpected cool stuff! The Sunrise house at Aloha Cottages is this place. It was just perfect for us and our group of six (which included two kids and two grandparents). Everyone had an awesome time on Kauai, and the cottage made our lodging experience super extraordinary! Couldn't ask for anything better! ~Mahalo~

Mermaid's Café
(Sunrise Cottage, Kitchen, Giclee 24"x24" cropped)
Our artist friend, Suzanne Etienne, was inspired to paint this colorful rendition of Mermaid's Café in Kapa'a after staying at Sunrise Cottage. She presented this striking, whimsical gicleé to us and now it brightens a prominent wall over the kitchen counter. We recommend one of their bowls, wraps or salads, all featuring local fish and organic produce!
Moonrise is so cozy...
and the walk out to the ocean each morning was a surprise every time...so beautiful! We loved being in the midst of Kapaa, definitely the best way to explore the island. Thank you for the wonderful privacy.
